The Peak and others

Today I went to the Peak and ride on the tram for the first time since I came back to Hong Kong. I don't remember if I ever went to the Peak when I was younger, but I had a wonderful time for going there. Although the temperature was around 32C, I perfected that type of weather than raining. I took more than a hundred pictures when I was there.

School and work

School has started nearly a month. I just realized how stressful school used to be. Too much work. I can't believe lab, lab, lab, and more lab to come. Barely finished writing one report, another report is due.

大時代

Before the summer was over, I had the opportunity to finish this Hong Kong series. The English name for the series is titled The Greed Man. It is a good series and I recommend people who can understand Chinese to watch it. Although it's an old series, the show is far better than any series are currently airing in Hong Kong now. I will talk more about this series in a later blog.

I am back

It has been so long since the last time I logged in and post anything interesting. Anyway, I am back. Life is different than the last time I was here. Many things have changed. Now I am back to school for my master degree in Material Egineering and Nanotechnology. Dr. Richard just recently got married. One of my friends has moved to Tai Po, while many have left BV ( a place I am currently working for ) . If I am not busy I will continue posting message in my blog.

Watching a classic tvb series 大時代 about stock market, it's so good. Too bad I don't really understand its concept, but started learning a lot about it.

March - working life

Can't believe I have worked for two weeks now at BV. As I am typing this, I am taking a study break from studying on Testing Standards, which I have an assessment to take this coming Thursday. Too much to remember, but I have a confident that I will pass it. The past two weeks I met many people since the company composed of hundreds or even thousands of workers. Many are nice, compared to the clinic I previous worked at. Most are graduate students from other countries, thus, share common interests. Now I know buying stuff in Aust is expensive! Oh well, still very interested in going to Aust with Dr. Richard since he said he can get me a free trip to Aust for one week!

Lack of sleep?

Finally slept at a decent hour last night, but woke up way early. Yes, 3am! Don't know what to do but to go online and complain about this in my blog. The weather is getting warmer, but going to bed is still not as easy as used to be. I remember when I was 9 years old, I can fall asleep anytime anywhere. Maybe as people getting older, the chemicals that make you sleep diminish. No wonder people like my grandparents at their 80s go to bed way early and wake up way early everyday.

This is an old picture of my friends when I was in college. I missed the good old days. The lady in the middle is a director for an non-profit organization in China raising awareness for women education.

Upset on criteria

I immgrated to the States when I was 9 years old. Did not come back to Hong Kong till 2006. Just because I don't have a Hong Kong education of F.5, one of the school is not going to let me enroll the course. That's stupid, especially that course is only a short course. Good thing I minor Chinese Language when I was in college, thus, I still have a chance as soon I send my transcript to the school tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Received a very important call

Yeah, finally found a job in the chemistry/plastic/industrial field. Received a call last night indicating that BV is officially hiring me as a chemist trainee. Starting work this coming Monday. Feel excited, can't wait to work in a new environment involving stuff I had major in.

Lack of sleep day 3

What is wrong with me? I can't go to bed . It's 5am. Went to Mac for a breakfast because I was very hungry. Expected to come back to sleep, but decided to write something on the blog because I can't sleep! Why is sleeping such a difficult task? Not used to be when I was in college. I can fall asleep anytime and anywhere.

Early this month, my friend Chris's friend Face came to Hong Kong for a visit. The end of the day, he made me hold a business card and then took a picture of me holding it. Decided to share it here, since no one will understand the meaning of this picture other than Chris and Face.

Is it true?

I have receieved an email from one of my aunts, indicating that someone from the future travelled backed to the past (1970s) and told us a list of stuff that are about to happen. It's interesting, I guess time will tell weather this story is real or not.

Lack of sleep

Today has exhausted me. Had an interview this afternoon at BV for the chemist trainee. Interview started at 2pm, but did not leave the building until 4pm. Did not go to sleep the night before because can't go to bed. Woke up at 1pm and rushed to BV for that interview without eating anything. Very big mistake, since my brain does not function with my stomach empty. Nevertheless, I think they liked me, hopefully they will hire me because I need money for tuition. I didn't know if that considered first and also second interview, but there were two people interviewing me. Let's hope they hire me as soon as possible so I can finally found a job I enjoy.

Movies I saw this month

Here are the movies I saw this month (Feb 2008):

1. CJ7 長江七號

Movie is all right, but I expected more from Stephen Chow. Some of his jokes in the movie was old or used in some of his earlier movies. However, it was touching and I like that young actress who happens to be the leading actress in the movie, instead of Chow. I would see it again if I have nothing else to watch.

2. 門徒

I learned a lot about cocaine from this movie, but that's it. I was somewhat disappointed how the movie came out like that, especially at the ending. However, it's worth to take a look since the casts were good and strong.

3. 破事兒

This movie is based on seven mini movies. Some of them are good, while the others are just plain boring and stupid. Besides that, I am surprised that this movie is not rated category 3 since there is nudity in it.

4. 阿孖有難

This movie is awesome. Way better than I thought.

5. 我要成名

The main actor of this movie is good, I am not surprised that he won the golden horse award last year.

6. Star War III

Enough said.

7. 神探

I like the story, but I didn't like the ending. Johnnie To's movies are either good or just nonsense.

8. 97難兄難弟

What can I say, I am a big fan for its TVB series. Didn't really like the movie, but it was fun watching it. The best part is making fun of Wong Ka Wai.

9. The Simpson's

Funny. Spider Pig. Enough said, again.

10. 最愛女人購物狂

The beginning is good, but the end is just weird. I hate movies like that.

What have I been doing lately?

I am currently watching two old Hong Kong TVB series. One is 1984 years old, and the other is 2005 years old.
The one that is dated 1984 is called 挑戰, starring Tony Leung and Barbara Yung. The story is not very interesting, but it is fun to see actors/actresses (especially Leung and the late Yung) at their early acting careers or when they were young.
The younger one is called 九五至尊, it's a funnier and a shorter series than the older one. It only has 20 episodes, which the older one has 40 episodes! Ha! Not going to sleep these few days if I want to finish both series this week. I will let you guys know my progress by the end of this week.

Losing weight

This winter is way colder than last year, as well longer too. That also mean I consumed more food than previous year. Therefore, it is time for me to lose weight since the weather is getting warmer. Of course, I will lose weight healthily.

Plans for upcoming months:
1. Eat more fruit - at least an apple or an orange a day.
2. At least walk half an hour per day.
3. Cut as much high sugar food as possible.
4. Consume as little meat as possible.
5. Drink more tea or water.

I am 5'9 tall and my current weight is 145. Let's hope in two months time from now my weight will be 130. Wish me luck!

Express Sorrow

Last week was one of the saddest weeks for everyone in Hong Kong, because one of Hong Kong actresses has passed away last Tuesday (Feb 19, 2008) at the age of 61. Her name was Lydia Shum. Not going to put her bio here, but I am going to express that she will be missed in Hong Kong and everyone who knows her. Rest in Peace!
